The Barbara Frietchie mural
Historic Frederick, MD
2021
The Frederick Arts Council held a national Request For Proposals to create a mural honoring the courage of local legend Barbara Frietchie, to be finished and unveiled by July 4th, at the Barbara Frietchie Guest House, which is now an Air BnB after spending years as a museum. I was selected from a pool of artists to paint this mural including a portion of the famous poem written about her.
The unveiling event included live music, a reading of the poem by “Barbara Frietchie” herself in costume, A Commendation from the Mayor of Frederick, and other regalia. I was honored to have a permanent piece of art in this beautiful and prominent town.
