Commemorative mural in park heights
brings bitter sweet moment to the baltimore community
George Mitchell Sr fought to have this abandoned school transformed into a community center, complete with a free library, computer lab, business resource center and food pantry. He was a beloved member of the community and was universally missed after his passing in 2020. Neighborhoods United received a grant for $10,000 for a public art project and decided to use those funds to hire me to design and paint a memorial mural in his honor, outlining his accomplishments in the Park Heights area of Baltimore City.
The unveiling event in late October 2021 was a huge success and an incredible testimony to his impact, with Attorney General Marylin Moseby, former Mayor Carl Stokes, and countless City Council members in attendance.
